Trade Channel Spam - Guild Wars Forums

Getting kind of tired of this. And I did ignore and still saw his messages for some reason. Bug?

Anyway, had to turn off trade channel but that sucks because I want to see what ppl are selling. Then people start spamming trade stuff on "All" and it clutters that up.

Possible Solution:
I heard on another game that they only allow one post on Trade channel per min. That could help.

Another solution is to make chat boxes like EQ2, where we can seperate out Trade, Guild, General, and Magic/Loot into 4 seperate boxes.

No no, I don't agree with this solution. There would be a lot less selling and buying and people would just keep entering their message until the game displays it. I think you should be able to set up stores (a la Ragnarok Online) and set prices for everything. This way, you can leave GW on while you go to school/work and let people buy things from your store. This would also get rid of the spam problem.

Ignore is to block whispers only, not general area chat.

In your screenie, you see those check marks along the top of the chat interface? Just uncheck whatever is bugging you and it won't appear at all.

I would agree that this is one of the few flaws with the game so far. When I say flaw what I really mean is personal annoyance so that's not as bad as it sounds. Unfortunately, ignore doesn't work in this case and unchecking the box is not a solution since that would deprive us of the chat channel altogether. Allowing for stores would be the best solution that I could imagine.

You're probably in an area that has dozens of districts. Switch to another one, it takes under 5 seconds.

I don't see why you would even be sitting in one place for too long anyway, though. Do it Diablo II trading channels style. Have a preset message like "Selling cloth for iron, whisper me with offers" and just switch through channels quickly pasting it in every single one. Instead of bothering people by repeating yourself to them, you'll get the message out to 10 times as many people just as quickly.

I mentioned I did. But still then the traders move to the !all chat and start spamming there. Then I have to uncheck that. So basically !all and $trade are pointless because of spam.

I mean you can't even post on this message board within 60 seconds...that is just a function to prevent what is happening in GW. I just find it annoying and since ignore only works on whispers, which is kind of useless to a point, I figured maybe something should be done about it.

But if not, whatever I'll deal with it. Just we have so little chat real estate as it is, thought maybe we could use some type of spam filter so we could effectively use all the channels.

I don't think they could do an auction house type thing with the way the districts work, but it would be nice if they had some type of store, or bizaar type set ups like FF had. Then I could turn off the channel and just check people. Hopefully they will do something anyway.
